Me, on holiday in the south of France
My name is Martijn van der Woud. I am 29 years old, married to lovely Franca and the proud father of two beautiful sons: Jouke (5) and Matthies (3). I live in Zeist, in the Netherlands.
Currently, I work for Orga-Toolkit, a company that develops and delivers web-based psychological measurement instruments for the Human Resources market. At Orga-Toolkit, I am part of the Research & Development team, which consists of 6 workers (including myself). We are a young and energetic team, striving to turn our market upside-down by a combination of creative innovation and scientific rigour (so yes, we keep ourselves and each other very busy). 
My professional interests boil down to two main subjects. One is psychological measurement, where my main focus is on the statistical analyses necessary to develop scientifically sound instruments. My biggest research project is a cooperation with the University of Groningen. Together with Peter Tellegen I am investigating an advanced technique for the norming of test scores.
The second main subject is web application development. Specifically I am thrilled about ColdFusion, an application server and software development framework that is currently owned by Adobe. ColdFusion provides a vast (and rapidly increasing) array of possibilities for about anything you want your website to be able to do. This, combined with the fact that it is very easy to learn, makes CF one of the best technologies available for developing rich and interactive websites. At Orga-Toolkit, we use CF for the delivery and administration of psychological test, and we also have CF applications that support our internal research work. Especially we found (and are improving on) ways to combine the computational power of SPSS with the easy-to-learn programmabilty of ColdFusion.

Je reactie op mijn blog over statistische significantie heb ik integraal gepubliceerd.
Voor wat betreft je opmerking dat studenten beter geschoold dienen te worden in statistisch onderzoek ben ik het uiteraard helemaal met je eens.
De vraag is natuurlijk waarom dat niet voldoende gebeurt. Je zou toch zeggen dat ze er (vroeger en nu) voldoende tijd aan kunnen besteden. Het is een hardnekkig probleem dat al sinds mijn studietijd bestaat (afgestudeerd in 1981).
Je eigen weblog vind ik vrij technisch, maar vond het wel aardig dat je met ColdFusion werkt. Die heb ik een tijd geleden (oppervlakkig) bekeken, maar uiteindelijk heb ik toch voor de combinatie php enm mysql gekozen voor het werken met ‘database driven’ websites. Wellicht dat je een keer je enthousiasme voor ColdFusion uit de doeken wilt doeken (maar niet te technisch svp).

Leuk nog een CF’er in de buurt te “vinden” via via. Ik zelf woon in Werkhoven en werk al sinds 2001 met CF – nooit iets anders voor mij. De kracht ervan is ongeloofelijk. Waar dat voor hele zware applicaties andere technieken beter zijn, maar voor Web is CF onovertroffen. Marre, als je een echte CF’er bent, moet er natuurlijk ook een CF-tool voor je weblog komen toch?
